The UOTeach MEd/licensure program welcomes applicants from across disciplines to apply their academic studies and passion for working with youth. UOTeach is committed to training k-12 teachers to assess student needs, tap into student's learning and creativity potential, and focus on how to develop informed critical learners and thinkers. Teachers play a decisive role in creating welcoming, inclusive, and safe classrooms, schools, and communities.
The University of Oregon offers both elementary multiple subjects and middle/high school education authorization levels.
General-education specializations at the secondary level include language arts, social sciences, sciences, mathematics, and world languages.
Students spend one year (four-terms) working with faculty, career teaching professionals, mentors, and peers developing teaching pedagogy skills and subject area instructional methods expertise. Courses are designed to support 34-weeks of supervised pre-service field experience.
UOTeach culturally sustaining and equitable teaching practices are strengthened in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) licensure endorsement embedded in the program of study. Additionally, the curriculum includes career training and step-by-step support for successful submission of the Educator Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA).
Upon successful completion, candidates apply for an Oregon preliminary teaching license. Completers interested in teaching out-of-state are eligible to apply for a reciprocal transfer license.
