Academic Year: 2025-26

Duties:

The GE will be responsible for grading assignments and leading a weekly discussion for 2 groups of 25 students.  Each of the GEs 50 students performs a capstone project resulting in a 8-10 page paper that much be graded during the last week of the quarter.  The course is titled “Happiness: a Neuroscience and Psychology Perspective”.  An online version of the course also runs simultaneously, and there is no synchronous discussion – students submit discussion posts instead, which are given participation points. The course can be seen at www.happyneurons.org.

Preferred Qualifications:

The most important qualification is the ability to discuss concepts presented in the course materials and lectures (which are often either about positive neuroscience or positive psychology – the neural mechanisms of self-care and designing a life filled with positive meaning and purpose) with your groups of 25 undergraduates in a comfortable and open-hearted manner.  The second most important aspect is accuracy and timeliness in grading online posts (participation points) or assignments.
