German: MA

The College of Arts and Sciences MA in German is designed to be completed over a two-year program. The curriculum is focused on the study of German language literature and culture since the enlightenment.

The program offers students both the breadth necessary for an understanding of complex and enduring works of literature and thought, and also the depth necessary to complete an MA thesis (or, optionally, two shorter MA papers) that represents an original research contribution to the field of German.

In addition to rigorous academic instruction, we provide support of career exploration across a broad range of academic and non-academic careers that require skills and knowledge we teach. Further, we actively encourage our students to pursue Graduate Specializations or Certificates, and we enthusiastically support study in concurrent Graduate Degree programs at the University of Oregon, in fields as various as Non-Profit Management, Law, Education, and so on, so that students may develop diverse and individualized career applications of their German Studies education.
