BioFoundry Technical Assistant GE

Duties:

The BioFoundry Technical Assistant will help support the Knight Campus BioFoundry research core facility (located in Knight Campus Building 2) through providing advanced technical and organizational support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment and workspaces in the facility. This role focuses on assisting users with instrument training, as well as training users on safe laboratory practices in compliance with institutional safety standards for BSL-1 and BSL-2 work areas. The role is also expected to help with routine sterilization and cleaning of shared equipment and workspaces, basic lab maintenance, instrument repair/upkeep, and helping organize and stock laboratory supplies. This position will work closely with BioFoundry staff to maintain a high standard of laboratory readiness, cleanliness, and equipment functionality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working in a BSL-2 research laboratory, Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or Mechanical engineering background. Experience using mechanical property testing equipment (rheometers, DMA, tensile testing, and other mechanical testing platforms). Experience using confocal microscopes. Experience with cell culture and incubation practices, including sterilization. Experience working with shared instrumentation in core facilities. Experience using flow cytometry equipment (sorters and analyzers) Experience with hazardous waste clean-up and training others with basic laboratory safety practices. Experience with Imaris image reconstruction software, or other 3D software
