Duties:
The Prevention Science Institute will hire 1-2 graduate employment (GE) positions in the Fall of 2026. These research GE positions will be at .40-.49 FTE and will include at least 3 terms of funding (Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring 2027). The positions will be associated with the new OSJP-Familias project, formally titled "Implementation and effectiveness of a multi-sectoral intervention in rural Oregon’s summer meal program to promote health quality of life among Latine families". This grant is funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. The overall goal of the project is to promote food security, reduce stress, improve access to information, and improve the health and quality of life among Latine families living in rural communities across Oregon. The first phase of the project involves developing culturally responsive outreach, intervention, and measurement materials and protocols for Oregon’s Latine rural families. If the first phase is successful, the project will apply for another 5 years of funding, with which we would test the effectiveness of the outreach and intervention.
1. Participate in a wide variety of research activities as part of the team’s Operations Committee, including assisting the investigators, project coordinators, and community advisory board
2. Assist with the administration of the projects, including scheduling, coordination, and support tasks
3. Assist with initial operations, project implementation, and cross-project communications
4. Support study activities related to outreach implementation and intervention design, including creation and revision of outreach and intervention materials
5. Assist with translation activities (initial translation, back translation, and finalizing translations)
6. Support study dissemination activities
7. Interface with summer meal sites to engage in preparatory activities that facilitate participant recruitment and enrollment
8. Assist with data collection activities, including on-site data collection at field sites, and follow-up surveys
Required Qualifications:
- Enough command of English and Spanish to write, translate, and speak to community members in both languages
- Graduate student enrolled during academic year 26-7 in the University of Oregon’s Counseling Psychology program (CPSY), Prevention Science program (PREV), or Communication Disorders and Sciences program (CDS)
- Experience with community-engaged research
Preferred Qualifications:
- Identifies as bicultural (Latino/a/e)
- Experience with studies involving Promotores, including training Promotores and evaluating implementation outcomes
- Able to commit to the position for at least 2 academic years (although this is a one-year contract with potential for renewal)
- Does not currently have guaranteed GE funding through their home department for AY 26-27
- Has research experience, such as project coordination, assessment skills, prior work in schools, and/or clinical intervention work
- Will be enrolled in their doctoral program in CPSY, PREV, or CDS by 9/16/2026
