Title IX Pregnancy Support
Consistent with Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, the University of Oregon provides modifications for (1) pregnant students, (2) students who have given birth, and (3) students who have experienced false pregnancy.
Accommodation Request: Students can request modifications for their own pregnancy, childbirth, loss of pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, lactation, false pregnancy, and related medical conditions by using the Pregnancy-Related Modification Request form.

Disability Accommodations
Students with pregnancy-related complications (such as serious health conditions) or other conditions that constitute a disability, including complications that arise postpartum or exacerbation of an existing impairment due to pregnancy, may be eligible for reasonable accommodations and services through the Accessible Education Center (AEC) and Human Resources (HR).

OICRC will refer students to and coordinate with the AEC, as appropriate, to ensure students' pregnancy- and postpartum-related needs are met.

GE and Academic Leave options
GE Leave:
Oregon Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML)
Up to 12 weeks of paid leave
GE Family and Medical Leave (GEFML)
Additional up to 4 weeks of unpaid leave

Academic Leave:
If requesting more than 5 weeks of PFML during the academic term, you are eligible for full academic leave or you may opt to stay enrolled full or part-time.
If requesting less than 5 weeks of PFML during the academic term, you cannot request academic leave. You must remain enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits.

Family Housing and University Apartments offers a number of on-campus or near-campus apartments and housing options specifically designed for graduate students or students with families.

UO Basic Needs Program has put together a list of childcare resources and financial assistance for families.
Care.com Premium Membership
Care.com is a an online platform that helps you connect with caregivers in your area by searching the caregiver network or posting a caregiver job and screening applicants.

Graduate Student Assistance Fund
The Graduate Student Assistance Fund program is designed to assist our graduate students facing financial hardship relating to a qualifying event including new child and childcare expenses.

Preschool Promise
Preschool Promise is a free, full-time preschool option for kids ages 3 and 4, whose family income falls within 200% of the federal poverty level. It is a statewide, publicly funded initiative by the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC).

Primary and Secondary School
School Districts in the Eugene/Springfield Area
There are three K-12 (kindergarten through 12th grade) public school districts in and around Eugene/Springfield area. You can find your neighborhood schools on RLID Quick Look.
Eugene School District 4J:
Most of the city of Eugene (about 85 percent) lies inside 4J’s boundaries, as do the town of Coburg and a small part of Linn County to the north.

Immunization Requirement
Shots are required by law for children in attendance at public and private schools, preschools, childcare facilities, and Head Start programs in Oregon.

Medical Resources for Family
HEDCO Family Clinic
The HEDCO Clinic specializes in educational and mental health care and support for parents and their families. It is a university training facility for graduate student clinicians and multi-disciplinary providers who work to provide families, couples, and individuals with evidence-based behavioral health services. HEDCO offers services in English and Spanish, and works with licensed interpreter services.

Teamduckling
Teamduckling is a group of research labs at the UO, studying many different aspects of child development. They rely on families and children to do their research. Participants are typically compensated, either with a small gift or money, depending on the tasks involved.

Eugene Family YMCA offers a variety of youth, teen, and family programs designed to promote health, education, and community engagement, with activities tailored to different age groups. From early childhood development and after-school care to teen leadership and family events, there's something for everyone to foster personal growth and family togetherness.
