Duties:
• Teaching Assistant in Psychology: Support instructors of a wide range of possible courses in Psychology (developmental, clinical, social/personality, cognitive, or systems neuroscience), through assisting in course preparation, classroom management, communication with students, reviewing course concepts in office hours, proctoring/grading, etc.
• Intro to Psychology (PSY201): Support instructor in teaching of introduction to psychology, hold office hours, explain psychological constructs and theories to first-year undergraduates, and grade exams.
• Statistic Methods (PSY302) Lab Instructor: Lead lab sections to review lecture material, demonstrate the use of statistics in practice problems, provide instruction on data analysis using statistical software (Jamovi), and assist course instructors on assessments (proctoring/grading). Course materials (lesson plans, lab handouts, etc.) will be provided.
• Research Methods (PSY303) Instructor: Lead a workshop-based course (including short lectures), assisting students in the completion of a term-long research project culminating in an APA-style research paper. Course materials (including pre-existing data set, lecture slides, and handouts), guidance by a faculty coordinator, and grading assistance will be provided. Familiarity with APA style is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
- Significant previous coursework in psychology (or closely related field), statistics or research methods
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous GE experience is preferred, but not required
