Women in Graduate Sciences (WGS)

Women in Graduate Sciences (WGS) is a student-led organization dedicated to improving gender diversity in research. WGS collaborates with local schools and science outreach organizations to promote excitement about science in the Eugene community. Some of these events include Girls’ Science Adventures,  Family STEM Night at Cesar Chavez Elementary School, and Women in STEM Day at Valley Catholic Middle School.

WGS organizes the Joint Undergrad-Grad Mentorship Program in collaboration with ASUO, which pairs undergraduate students with a graduate student mentor and offers career development workshops in resume writing, research applications, and graduate school applications. WGS supports both undergraduate and graduate researchers through scholarships, such as its Graduate Parenting Scholarship, Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship, and Graduate Leadership Scholarship. WGS also offers career development resources, such networking events, career panels, and site tours at research organizations in Oregon.

“We welcome and support students of all genders! Please consider joining us, or attending and donating to our annual fundraiser in May!”
