Land Acknowledgement

In countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the U.S., it is common to open events and gatherings by acknowledging the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of that land. Land Acknowledgment is a formal statement that recognizes and respects Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of the land and the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories.

The UO in partnership with the federally recognized tribes created and approved the land acknowledgment for our Eugene campus.
