Teaching Graduate Employee

Duties:

Seeking qualified applicants for 3-4 Graduate Employee Teaching positions at .49 FTE for the 2025-2026 academic year (fall 2025, winter 2026, and spring 2026). The successful candidates will act as section leaders for WGS 101, an introductory Women's and Gender Studies course in fall quarter, and will teach this course independently as instructors of record in winter and spring terms. Responsibilities include class administration, lectures, office hours, weekly sessions with faculty supervisors, and evaluation and grading of students' performance. Class times will be scheduled throughout the week.

Graduate students pursuing any doctoral degree may apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

•        Admission to a University of Oregon graduate program and currently in good standing. 
•        Substantial background in intersectional women's and gender studies. 
•        Record of academic excellence and/or important experience in intersectional women's and gender issues. 
•        Strong interdisciplinary background. 
•        Experience collaborating and grading preferred.
•        Cross-cultural sensitivity. 
•        Ability to work independently. 
•        Previous teaching/grading experience in WGS and/or related fields. 
•        Enrollment in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies’ graduate certificate program.

o        Names and contact information of two academic references, including your primary academic advisor. Letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the applicant’s advisor and address student’s progress toward degree, may be requested at a later date.
o        A one-page narrative describing your approach to teaching WGS 101 Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies
o        And, if available, teaching evaluations from any previously taught courses. 
o        A brief interview (via zoom) with hiring committee members
