Traveling to OIMB
By Car
Take Highway 101 to Coos Bay or North Bend. Follow signs to “Ocean Beaches”, “Charleston”, or “Sunset Bay”. Charleston is approximately eight miles from Coos Bay. As you enter Charleston, cross the South Slough bridge and turn right on Boat Basin Drive. OIMB is approximately one-half mile on the left at 63466 Boat Basin Drive.
Driving from Eugene takes 2.5 hours. Driving from Portland takes about 5 hours.

OIMB is located close to a diversity of extraordinary marine habitats as well as forests and hills for an abundance of outdoor recreation.
A five-minute walk takes you downtown Charleston to the general stores, restaurants, a post office, and a coffee shop. OIMB is eight miles from the cities of Coos Bay and North Bend with their public libraries, movie theaters, stores, and large ocean ship docks.
