Duties:
The Department of Theatre Arts is seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Employee position at .40 FTE for Academic year 2024/25. Although tasks will vary, the successful candidate should be able to assist with costume construction, supervise undergraduate students in a costume construction setting, and teach students how to sew during lab hours, under the direction of the Costume Shop Manager.
Graduate students pursuing any master’s or doctoral degree in the College of Arts and Sciences may apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. A background in theatre, preferably with stage costumes
2. Experience collaborating
3. Ability to read and follow construction directions
4. Cross-cultural sensitivity
5. Ability to work independently
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in hand and machine sewing
2. Ability to teach small groups of students in sewing techniques
3. Dedication to meeting deadlines.
4. Punctuality and Reliability
5. Professionalism
6. Efficiency and accuracy in cutting fabrics and sewing garments.
7. Availability to work from 2-6pm on two or more weekday afternoons each week. There will be some Saturdays and evenings for an average of 17.5 hours per week.
