Duties:
Seeking applicants for 1 Graduate Employee Teaching position at .4 FTE for the 2025-26 academic year (fall 2025, winter 2026). The successful candidates will assist as a grader for AFR 215 “Introduction to African Studies.” Responsibilities include class administration, preparing class materials, holding weekly office hours, meeting regularly with faculty supervisors, and evaluation and grading of students' assignments. Preference will be given to graduate students enrolled in CAS departments and those enrolled in the African Studies graduate specialization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Admission to a UO graduate program
2. Record of academic excellence
3. Substantial background and/or important experience in African Studies or cognate disciplines strongly preferred
4. Strong interdisciplinary background
5. Cross-cultural sensitivity
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills
7. Ability to work under supervision and independently to meet assigned deadlines, especially as
evidenced by success in independent research or work projects
8. Experience with CANVAS strongly preferred
