Japanese Language Graduate Employee

Department: East Asian Languages and Literatures
FTE: 0.40 to .49
Terms: Fall only
Academic Year: 2025

Duties:

· Teaching Drill sections 2 days per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays or 1 day per week 
  (Thursdays), depending on level
· Grading homework and tests
· Proctoring tests, holding weekly lab hours
· Attending class-preparation meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate students pursuing any master's or doctoral degree may apply.

· Near native proficiency in Japanese (oral and written)
· Familiar with romanized Japanese, kana, and kanji
· Basic computer skills (Word, PPT, and Excel - English & Japanese)
· Communication and problem-solving skills (team teaching)
· The ability to follow instructions, work accurately and in a timely fashion

· the times you will be available to teach in Fall 2025 on Tuesdays and Thursdays
· your preferences regarding (1) whether you would like to teach 2 or 3 sections, and (2) whether 
  you would prefer to teach 100-level, 200-level, or 300-level classes
· be prepared to have your language ability assessed by a Japanese instructor

Please note the following: 
1) All graduate students (MA and PhD) at UO are welcome to apply but priority will be given to students within the College of Arts and Sciences.
2) If you are hired for this position, your assignment will be determined based on: course enrollment, your preferences, your language skills, and your class schedule.
