LIB 410: Humanities Research Data Management Course Assistant

Duties:

The UO Libraries seeks an individual to support the teaching and learning of undergraduate students enrolled in LIB 410: Humanities Research Data Management. The tasks include:

  • Grading assignments• Supporting Canvas and in-class discussions and activities
  • Assisting with in-class activities such as lectures and labs• Setting up and configuring Jekyll websites via GitHub Pages
  • Aiding students in curating and preserving humanities-based research data 
  • Attending class and class preparation meetings• Holding office hours
  • Troubleshooting technology

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Coursework or research relevant to digital humanities, public humanities, cultural analytics, museum studies, media studies, digital history, digital art history, information science, and/or data science at the graduate or undergraduate level
  • Available Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00pm - 3:50pm PT
  • Demonstrated organizational ability
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skillso recommendations from academic or work supervisors may help demonstrate teaching and communication skills but are not required
  • Interest and/or experience in information science and/or GLAMs (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to graduate students involved or enrolled in the following programs: 

  • Digital Humanities
  • The New Media and Culture Certificate
  • Environmental Studies
  • Historic Preservation
  • Computer Science
  • Data Science
  • Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies
  • Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management
