Duties:

Duties/Responsibilities:


• Assist with project coordination, including scheduling, documentation, and
communication with state partners and advisory groups.
• Support the review and synthesis of existing local, regional, and state resilience plans and
related literature.
• Contribute to the development of qualitative engagement tools and protocols for use by
community-based organizations.
• Help design and conduct key person interviews and focus groups with state agency staff,
subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders.
• Analyze and summarize findings from interviews, focus groups, and community
engagement activities.
• Draft white papers, memoranda, and other internal and public-facing documents.
• Support the development of visual and narrative content for the PRO Story Map and
other communications tools.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to project planning and reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum/Necessary Requirements:
• Demonstrated interest in advancing justice, access, and equity in planning, policy, or
environmental science across multiple levels of government.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to take clear and
accurate notes during meetings and interviews.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, as demonstrated through application
materials.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently while contributing to a collaborative
research team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience engaging diverse stakeholder groups, including government agencies,
community-based organizations, and the public.
• Applied research skills, including data collection, qualitative or quantitative methods, and
literature review.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications (not required):
• Familiarity with FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs or related federal resilience
initiatives.
• Working knowledge of emergency management and hazard planning documents such as
Natural Hazard Mitigation Plans (NHMPs), Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs),
and Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs).
• Experience designing and implementing stakeholder engagement processes.
• Prior experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research, including
interviews, focus groups, or survey analysis.
• Comfort using collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
• Motivation to contribute to detailed, iterative research and writing processes, including
document drafting and revision.
• Familiarity with graphic design and data visualization tools for use in reports,
presentations, or public-facing materials.
